Spotlight Babe: Emilie — Community Before Competition
This week, in honor of International Women’s Day, I’ve been sharing the stories of incredible women I’ve had the privilege of photographing
Today’s spotlight is for Emilie
Emilie is not only one of my clients
She’s also a photographer… and over time, she has become a friend
I first photographed Emilie during her first pregnancy
A beautiful and emotional session capturing that moment where life is about to change forever
Since then, we’ve also done boudoir sessions and now she is pregnant with her second baby which means I’ll have the honor of photographing her again very soon
And that’s something I love about this work: when a client becomes part of your life too
But what makes Emilie truly special goes far beyond the photos
Emilie is one of the most generous and supportive people I know
Whenever someone launches something new (a small business, a creative project, a product) she’s often the first person cheering them on
She was actually the very first client to buy one of my candles when I launched them
And I’ve seen her do the same for many others:
supporting a friend who started a magical potions brand, buying from a model who launched her lingerie line, sharing and promoting small creators…
She genuinely believes in supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs, especially women
And that kind of energy matters
Because building something creative can sometimes feel lonely
People like Emilie remind you that it doesn’t have to be
In fact, between us there has always been one simple motto:
Community before competition
We support each other whenever we can
And what’s beautiful is that we even have clients who book sessions with both of us. Our styles are different, but the values we share are the same. And those clients understand that
Something else Emilie did really touched me.
She shared on her stories a comparison between the photos she took of herself during pregnancy and the photos I took of her. And she said something that stayed with me. She called my photos “a work of art.”
In fact, she has them displayed in her triplex home
For a photographer, there are few compliments that feel more meaningful than that
But Emilie isn’t just generous, she’s also incredibly open-minded and creative
She’s the kind of person you can talk to about absolutely anything
Always curious
Always supportive
Always ready to help
And I deeply admire the way she manages to balance so many things at once:
Being a mom
Her other job
Her photography work
Her relationship
Her friendships
And somehow she still shows up for people
That’s rare
Photographing women like Emilie reminds me why I love my work
Because sometimes the people who step in front of your camera end up leaving a mark on your life far beyond the photos
Emilie is one of those people
And I feel incredibly grateful that our paths crossed
Maybe one day you’ll also decide to step in front of the camera
Because every woman has a story worth capturing
And sometimes the most beautiful thing about photography is not just the images…
It’s the connections we create along the way
